HUMAN RIGHTS AND COUNTER-TERRORISM: EIFORCES AT THE HEART OF THE ISSUE

On 17 and 18 February 2022, the EIFORCES campus was the venue for a seminar on Human Rights jointly organised by the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Central Africa and the Cameroon Human Rights Commission on the theme: ” Human Rights in counter-terrorism operations “.

The target audience, composed of Police officers and Gendarmes from 21 African countries, including 28 Higher Degree of Security Studies (BESS 8) auditors and 46 third Security Unit Commanders Course (SCUS 3) trainees in progress at EIFORCES, tackled the issue of “How to reconcile counter-terrorism imperatives with human rights constraints?”

Through this seminar focused on the imperative of integrating the human dimension in policing, EIFORCES reaffirms its determination to always offer its trainees an integral training for peace, security and stability in Africa and the world, in the strict respect of Human Rights.
