27th ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF IAPTC

« Leveraging Partnership in Training for Complex Peace Support Operations Environment. »

The 27th annual conference of the International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centres (IAPTC) held from 06 to 10 November 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya. More than 300 participants from 60 countries and diverse backgrounds discussed the theme: “Leveraging Partnership in Training for Complex Peace Support Operations Environment.” The International School for Security Forces (EIFORCES), a full member of this forum for exchanging and disseminating best practice in peacekeeping training, was represented by Colonel ATANGANA Fiacre Kisito, Director of Studies, and Commissioner BESSALA Désiré, Head of Division for Basic Education and Peace Support Operations Trainings.

Presentations and workshops enabled participants to exchange views on a range of relevant issues likely to improve the effectiveness of peacekeeping operations in an increasingly complex environment. These included gender, the digitalisation of operations, leadership, intelligence and communication activities, as well as environmental security. The urgent need to include these key thematic categories in peacekeeping preparation and training arose as a recommendation to the various Centres.

On the sidelines of this intense intellectual activity, EIFORCES took the opportunity of an Idea Fair to present the products of its Research and Documentation Centre. Furthermore, participants took part in the commemoration, on 08 November 2023, of the 75th anniversary of United Nations peace operations at the UHURU National Museum in Kenya. At the end, this gathering provided an opportunity to discover the rich cultural heritage and tourist resources of the host country.

The 28th conference venue is yet to be confirmed between the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Nepal.

Le rendez-vous pour la 28e conférence reste à confirmer entre la République de Slovénie et celle du Népal.
